Introduction
Nowadays there is always going to be some major competition around, vying for your attention by offering all sorts of value benefits, often largely focused around price and quantity per dollar.
At Floorex, we understand that price may be important, however going beyond base price and realistically getting value for money is a whole different ball game. In addition, there is always a high expectation that your choice of diamond tooling will aid you in successfully getting the job done to a high-quality standard – after all, your business and reputation rely on it.
‘F’ Series Discs
‘F’ Series Diamond Discs would have to 
be the favourite among diamond discs offered here at Floorex. Although both of what we offer plus many other discs that are out there will all typically ‘get the job done’ for you, the ‘F’ Series will by far stand out to you when you use them and start to gain first-hand experience and understanding of the true value for money they provide.
The first thing to note about diamond discs is in the name itself – Diamond Discs.
Although it may be more cost-effective for a supplier to reduce diamond density within the segments on a diamond disc – this speaks volumes in the quality of output the discs offer. Given Floorex are renowned for high quality products as well as the level of support we offer, our discs segments have diamond all the way through each 10mm thick segment.
After the welding process, they are dynamically balanced to reduce vibration and give a better experience on hand grinders. Typically the outer edge of the disc is worn out a lot faster this is particularly when used on a hand grinder so we have accommodated for this by designing it with an extra wide segment at the edge. You will also note that we have engineered the F Series diamond cup wheels with the segments on the disc sweeping forward rather than backward in addition to having a pointed leading edge. Because of this, coating removal becomes far easier!
Each segment also contains a cooling hole – this aids in minimising any debris build up near the segment which ultimately also allows for the segment to remain cooler and the diamonds remain open for longer. Overall, these benefits all allow for more surface coverage per disc used.
Asteroid Discs in Comparison
From a cost perspective, it can be a common misconception that buying a seemingly “cheap” disc will also be more cost effective for your business overall. Although the ‘F’ Series discs are highly recommended, we do also cater for those who are perhaps buying their first grinding package or don’t feel it necessary to use such a premium disc.
We have catered to this by also supplying a range of Asteroid Discs.
One way for us to be able to demonstrate the difference in value beyond base recommended retail price is as follows:
“Consider how much disc you consume per square metre of use.
As an example, if you are doing 100,000 square metres per year, and each square metre costs you an average of 57 cents (adjust this number to reflect the cost of grinding in your area) using the ‘F’ Series discs will overall offer much better value than if you are spending 90 or more cents per square metre.”
Although the Asteroid Discs may not be quite as cost effective, they still continue the Floorex value proposition and unlike many other lower-cost discs on the market, can still often cost less than 80 cents per square metre to use in comparison to 90 cents or more – which over 100,000 square metres each year per say still equates to a large saving and added value, irrespective!
